Ventura County's beaches, lakes, campgrounds and parks offer the outdoors visitor many unique opportunities including; boating, bicycling, hiking, swimming, surfing and fishing in the Pacific Ocean.
Ventura County and its adjacent communities including Camarillo, Ojai Valley and Santa Paula offer a wide variety of accommodations, dining, nightlife, and sights to see. Walking the downtown area of Ventura visitors will come upon the San Buenaventura Mission and its beautiful gardens. West of the Mission is the Albinger Archaeological Museum, at the site of an archaeological dig that dates back 3500 years. This dig represents five different native cultures.
Driving about 60 miles northwest from the Los Angeles area to Ventura County or from the north to the south visitors will find Ventura 30 miles southeast from Santa Barbara.
